To helping Lidia and the families of Toaville-PR

Like thousands of people in Puerto Rico, Lidia lost everything with the passing of Hurricane Fiona. Being a long-time resident of Toa Baja (a small town north of the island), this is not her first time losing all she had in a disaster. There have been four major floodings in Toaville, Toa Baja in the last 40 years, this being the most recent one. Five years ago she lost all her belongings and her only son in the aftermaths of Hurricane Maria. Once again, on September 18th of 2022 her house was flooded and her belongings now gone once again.

At 87 years of age, Lidia keeps a warm smile and a positive attitude despite all that has happened. She truly believes better days are coming and this is our opportunity to make it happen.

With this initiative we are looking to collect enough to donate new appliances and furniture to Lidia and the 55+ families of Toaville, Toa Baja, PR.

My name is Neftali Boyer, I usually go by Nefti. I am from San Juan, PR and I have been living in New York since 2011... After seeing the horrible conditions Hurricane Fiona left my people I decided I wanted to find a way to help.

On September 22nd I met Cristian, Naomi and Genesis who are working closely with 55+ families that have been left in critical housing-living conditions in Toaville, Toa Baja, PR. So, through the support of my family and friends -and the new friends I met volunteering on September 22nd - we decided that we wanted to make a difference in the lives of those affected in the neighborhood of Toaville, Toa Baja, PR. And, we decided to begin to collect funds from donations after seeing how badly the living conditions for these families were.

The funds will be overseen by Genesis and me. Genesis works very closely with the community leader of Toaville, her name is Yari. Yari works closely with other community leaders in Toa Baja and they all report to the Mayor of the local government.

The funds will be used to buy:

1. New appliances like:

-Fridges

-Stoves

-Microwaves

-Air Conditioner units

2. New Furniture like:

Couches

Cabinets

Dressers

Bed Frames

Mattresses

3. And other necessities like food and clothes.
