Vet Funds for Thumper

Donation protected
Hi I'm Stephanie (but most of you probably know me as Riley or waywardmutt) and I'm in need of help for my guinea pigs upcoming vet visits.

I adopted Thumper in April 2014. I was working at Petco at the time and someone came in to give him up. He was so cute, poking his head out of his box..I adopted him immediately!

He is the most unique guinea pig I've ever had, he really has a personality like no other. He has brought me so much joy with his goofy antics. He's not afraid of anything and loves to walk around and explore. Now my poor baby is sick.

On the evening of 4/30, I noticed he wasn't acting like himself. Not eating, drinking, getting excited, etc. The following day I found an out of town exotic vet (30 minutes away) that was open and we (myself, my boyfriend, and my mom as the driver as we don't have a car) took him in for an emergency visit. They examined his teeth first, checking for possible maloccussion, but his teeth seemed okay. They gave him fluids, painkiller (injection and take home), critical care to take home, and a reglan injection (medicine for his tummy since that seemed to be the issue). He was back to his usual self that night but the following day he was sick again. I took him to the local vet in town and they gave him fluids and a vitamin c shot but didn't really examine him. The fluids perked him up again at least.

We went back to the exotic vet on 5/5 (as I prefer their care for him) because he was doing poorly again. She felt his tummy/lower body and he made sad/uncomfortable sounds. So she gave me take home Reglan to help his digestive system and he got his usual fluid boost. He was acting normal again! He was becoming more active/responsive and even started eating a little.

On the evening of 5/7 he started gagging/spitting back up what I was feeding him with a syringe. It's incredibly sad to see. I tried to get what I could in him but it was really difficult to keep it down. His vets were not going to be in until the 9th and we honestly did not think he would make it until then. But he fought and pulled through. They gave him his fluids, vitamin c shot, and antibiotics as a last option without being invasive to his weak body.

He was doing great until yesterday (5/13) and he suddenly lost his appetite. He's starting to spit things out again, but not as serverly as last week. His vet is back in tomorrow and I'll be calling her to make our next move.

Here is all his current treatment. My life currently revolves around keeping him going. He needs to be fed with critical care every 4-5 hours, so I wake up at night to feed him aswell. He gets his medicines every 12 hours, with probiotics in the middle. He gets water and pedialyte throughout the day aswell. I've been very dedicated to him.  When he had an appetite, he was getting big salads every few hours (kale, cilantro, peppers, lettuce, apple, parsley, cucumber).

At my last visit, his vet brought up a blood test and a possible X-ray as the next options if the antibiotics don't work. The blood test will be $150 and the x-Ray will be $95, plus the $50 revisit fee and $30+ in fluids they'll give him.  The blood test will show exactly what's wrong with him, provided it's an internal issue. If it doesn't show anything, then it may be a tumor or an issue with his teeth (Malocclusion as mentioned earlier). They can't check his molars unless anesthesia is used, and that is incredibly risky by itself, let alone with a sick guinea pig. But, it would be a last resort, no options left sort of thing. It will be another $200+ expense regardless.

His bills have piled up and I really can't afford these costly procudures anymore on my own. But I can't give up on him, he has been fighting hard himself. He's been so low so many times but he keeps coming back to us, there is hope. I can't stop until I know I've tried every option.  Any donation, big or small, will mean the world to me and Thumper.
