On September 27, I’m running 22 km on the Great Wall in support of the Canadian Lung Association (CLA).

This is my third lung-health fundraiser since losing my dad - and my first since we also lost his sister, my Aunt Judy, only years later, also related to a lung-related illness.

So this one is for both of them. ❤️

And our family is doing something special.

My goal is to raise $5,000 by race day. My family will match every dollar donated, up to another $5,000.

If we hit our goal, we’ll have generated $10,000 for the Canadian Lung Association - which we then plan to donate as matching funds for CLA’s Giving Tuesday campaign in December.

The idea is simple:

$5,000 from all of you

+$5,000 from our family

= $10,000 Giving Tuesday match

= the potential to inspire another $10,000 in giving

Together, our original $5,000 fundraising goal could ultimately help generate $20,000 for lung health.

I’m incredibly proud to serve on the Board of the Canadian Lung Association, and incredibly grateful to our Crawford-Hannah-Jongman family for getting behind this idea.

And running the Great Wall feels particularly appropriate.

I get my love of running and much of my adventurous spirit from Dad. He would have loved this whole idea - although I’m fairly certain he’d also want to know why I wasn’t running the full marathon.

Most of all, I’ll be carrying two pretty wonderful people with me for those 22 kilometres.
