First I want to thank everyone for your continued support and love during this difficult time for my family. As many of you know I've been in the hosptial for a few weeks now. I was admitted because of an infection in my toe that traveled to the bone. It ultimately travelled to the blood and then was transfered to the other foot. The doctors amputated the infected toe and opened the other foot to drain an abscess. The surgery took place about a week ago, so now I am in the recovery process. Thankfully, I am in good spirits during this recovery process. Unfortunately we do still have many unanswered questions. At this point I am not allowed to put any pressure on my feet and we do not know when I will be able too. My wounds are making progress and are beginning to heal however we are not sure as to the bone infection or the abscess in my foot. So as you can imagine we celebrate the small triumphs but we have much on our mind still.
In addition to the healing and recovery process the one thing we know is that my "normal" will never be what it was before. I am going to have new challenges and obstacles to overcome within the months ahead. We are all hopeful that we will get back on track to where I am driving, walking and working as before but we also know that even with that some adjustments are going to need to be made to accommodate him for his charcot foot and his amputation. So we are trying to begin the process of renovating our house to make it handicap accessible to help accommodate for some of those new changes. I will most likely be coming home in both a wheel chair and a walker. As many of you know renovations are not very cheap
I am asking for help in helping me to spread the word. If you know of anyone within the community, your churches, organizations or anyone you can think of that would like to help our Family out will you please pass this information along. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, even if it's just sharing this with your friends and family.
