The Patsiatzis Family Home and Restaurant Loss
Donation protected
Kenora has once again felt the loss of another historic building that will change our city’s landscape.
At 2am on June 28, 2022, Sue Patsiatzis was asleep in her bed when police broke into her apartment instructing her to get out. Barely awake, she quickly evacuated her home at 301 Second Street South with just her bathrobe and her purse.
Sue and Gus (2006) Patsiatzis started the Bizzi Bee, in 1981. Purchasing the old Salisbury House, they created a 25 year long family run restaurant and raised their 3 children in the residential unit above.
301 Second Street South has been home to Bryce’s Bakery, W.S. Irish Confectionary, The Salisbury House, Bizzi Bee, Borelli’s, The Pier, and The Hungry Pug. But above all of these enterprises, were homes that housed birthday parties, Christmas’s, and endless memories. Every morsel of which, was decimated in this most recent and devastating fire.
While we are so grateful for Sue’s safe exit out of the burning building, there is an undeniable loss that will be a massive undertaking to recover from. Please consider donating what you can to show Sue support as she aims to move forward from this shocking loss.
