The life of Vietnamese baby Uyen in our Hands

This beautiful child was happy and healthy until just a few days ago.  Then disaster stuck when a poisonous carpenter ant bites her leg while she was sleeping. The venom from this insect can be worse than a rattlesnake. Her parents had no idea why she was crying and as the poison spread we thought it was diaper rash.

Within 2 days the poison began to spread into the leg.  Her parents were afraid to take her to a doctor because they both are unemployed since Covid 19 shutdown the tourist industry and they lost their only form of income.

Vietnam is a Communist/ Socialist country but the is not any free healthcare for the people who are poor. Without money up front you get no help.

On the third day the mother sent me a photo on I was shocked. 30 years a Registered Nurse in the US and never saw a baby in such perilous situation. The bite had a large area of necrotic blackened dead tissue. A medical emergency. If you could see the photo it would sicken you.

So I told them to take the child to the ER which they immediately did and she has flesh eating bacteria. I don’t know if she will make it but without our help this hospital will withdraw treatment. I have given enough for the first treatment but without help this child is lost.

Truly this is breaking my heart. We can’t save every child but please help me save this one.
