On a seemingly normal day in January, Kelly Kruppi’s life was forever changed in an unexpected accident while playing basketball, a sport he’s always loved. In a rare and tragic moment, he tripped and fell headfirst into a concrete wall, resulting in severe injuries, including a broken vertebra in his neck. After undergoing extensive surgery, Kelly is now facing significant challenges, including paralysis, nerve damage, and a permanent tracheostomy from a collapsed lung, with an uncertain path to recovery ahead.

Kelly is not just a husband, father, and friend; he is a beacon of kindness, strength, and dedication to so many.

To his wife, Erryn, and children, Leyton and Hanna, he is a devoted husband and father who always puts family first.

To countless students, he is “Mr. Kruppi,” an inspiring middle-years teacher with 22 years of unwavering commitment.

To athletes across the province, he is “Coach Kruppi,” whose leadership and passion for sports—especially basketball—have changed the lives of the players and teams he has mentored.

Even now, people stop to share memories of the impact he has had on their lives. Whether in the classroom, on the basketball court, or in the community, Kelly has always made those around him feel seen, valued, and supported.

But now, Kelly and his family need our help.

This life-altering accident has created a financial burden that no family can prepare for. As Kelly begins his recovery journey, there are immense challenges ahead. The Kruppi family may need to relocate or renovate their home to make it accessible. Medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, time away from work, and daily living expenses will place a tremendous strain on their lives.
