Donnavan Hart was chased by police after having been reported as a suspicious person. In his state of mental illness Donnavan was shot by police no less than 5 times and is currently fighting for his life in the hospital. Unreported on the news is that Donnavan suffers from Schizophrenia, a state in which he is unable to think logically nor would respond to aggressive force in a typical manner.
Donnavan is a grandson, a son, a brother to 8 siblings, and an uncle to countless nieces and nephews. He is a fun and loving young man who has always had a love for art. Donnavan's mental illness has made it difficult for him to do many things and has taken a lot from him- We hope that the lack of mental health awareness in the policing community does not ultimately take his life.
Funds will be used to benefit Donnavan's hopeful physical recovery, to ensure he receives an appropriate transfer of care to a psychiatric facility that is equipped to meet the needs of the mentally ill, and towards his long term mental health needs.
Donnavan is in poor condition having suffered 5-7 police inflicted gunshot wounds. Their intention if he recovers is to transfer him to jail when he should be released into a psychiatric facility. The funds are needed quickly to ensure that his care is transferred to a facility equipped for the mentally ill.
Donnavan will need physical therapy, long term psychiatric care and medications, legal assistance, and other unknown costs for recovery and mental health. His most capable next of kin and eldest brother, Christopher Small, will receive and manage the funds as needed for his care.
