Thanasaki's Lymphoma Battle
Donation protected
Hello to all,
Thanos (Athanasios or Thanasakis) is a 10-year-old vibrant boy that likes to play with his friends video games, sports, and read books. Thanasakis was recently diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma and he undergone surgery to remove an infected lymph-node from his abdomen area and he is undergoing chemotherapy for the next year. In one of his multiple visits at the hospitals he also contracted COVID-19. Thanasaki with a hereditary heart arrhythmia is a fighter, and with the help of doctors at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is battling both lymphoma and covid-19.
Thanasakis parents, because of COVID-19 quarantine restrictions can only provide support to their son, but currently they are not able to work. Thank God, there are covid-19 negative so far, and at least they can assist Thanasaki fight the disease and the lymphoma wearing protective equipment. Maria used to work as an MD in Italy, and currently she is completing her MS in Public Health at CSU Northridge (CSUN), while working as a substitute teacher in local schools around Pasadena. Nick attended Santa Barbara Community College and CSU Northridge and he is working as a fitness professional and coach, as well as in food and nutrition industry. With schools being closed, with the fitness industry on hiatus, and food industry crippling; all these make a difficult situation even harder.
I met Nick and Maria over the years at CSUN. When my wife and I heard their situation, we decided to setup this GoFundMe campaign to try to assist in such difficult case. Everything is in God’s hand and will. Through prayers and donations we are hoping to help Thanasaki and the family overcome such a difficult period on their lives.
We have set a modest amount to help with the medical expenses co-payments, family’s expenses, transportation, and necessities for the next 7-8 months. We are optimistic that although Burkitts Lymphoma is an aggressive lymphoma form that it is also a curable form of lymphoma, and this situation will improve in eight to nine-months.
Maybe we will need to review the amount again in a couple of months. For now though, it is urgent to support the family and pour our blessings into Thanasaki
All blessings and all the best.
