Terry Walters' Medical Crisis
Our dear friends, Terry and Jodi Walters, have found themselves in a terrifying medical crisis. Terry began experiencing severe abdominal pain on Friday, January 10th. He was seen and treated in St. Luke’s Hospital Emergency Room and sent home with instructions to follow up with a Gastroenterologist. His pain returned and worsened Saturday evening. Terry and Jodi returned to St. Luke’s Hospital ER where he was diagnosed with Celiac Artery Dissection.
Arrangements were immediately made to fly Terry to the Cleveland Clinic as St. Luke’s Hospital advised them that no one in Toledo was able to provide the specialized care he would need. After arriving at The Cleveland Clinic, Terry was admitted to ICU. Additional testing has shown that Terry has multiple artery dissections. Surgery at this point is not an option.
Terry’s recovery timeline is uncertain at this time. He was transferred from the ICU on Thursday, January 16th, to a Step-Down Unit. He continues to have severe and debilitating abdominal pain that is still not able to be managed.
Jodi has remained by Terry’s side at The Cleveland Clinic and has been unable to work. They have no income as a result. Expenses have already begun piling up with out-of-pocket copays, expenses associated with Jodi staying with him, their children traveling to Cleveland to see Mom and Dad, and so on....
For those of you that know Jodi and Terry, you know how generous they are, always helping others when the need arises. To those who don’t know them personally, they are kind and generous with their time and talents. They are loving. They are always willing to lend a hand. They are a blessing to so many. And now, now they are scared. But Terry is a very proud Marine and he is fighting like only a Marine can!
If you can help out in any way, it would be greatly appreciated. If you’re unable, please include them in your prayers, and feel free to share this. Lastly, be sure to hug your loved ones a little tighter and treasure each moment as life can change in the blink of an eye.
