Ted Baer’s Service Dog
In February 2011, PTSD nearly cost Ted his life. After fighting back from that brink with the help of family, friends, trusted counselors, and medication we reached out for an additional healing component.
In August of 2015 Ted's journey was dramatically improved when Kendall, a Golden Retriever Service Dog, joined his team. Team Baer was able to proceed through recovery from Ted's two subsequent surgeries and gave the confidence and freedom to embrace two long trips camping along with several family and military reunions and visits to hotels and restaurants enjoying life.
Unfortunately, this wonderful service dog became ill in May 2021 and Kendall lost this hard fought battle with that illness. Such a fight carries substantial expense as everything possible was done to try to save him.
While no animal can ever replace Kendall (with his ready smile and wagging tail along with the demeanor of a well trained Service Dog), the help and support he gave were immeasurable. Ted has joined the waiting list for a successor dog. When that successor is found, they believe that partnership will put Ted back on the path of living a more normal life. The new dog will bring a large price tag, but will greatly improve life every single day.
The family is extremely grateful for prayers and support, and thanks you in advance for your help coping with these expenses. Even if you can't contribute, your prayers will help in this extended period without such essential assistance.
Ted has dedicated his entire adult life to serving others, whether serving his country or serving his community. Let’s honor Ted’s commitment to us by helping support his family in their time of need.
If you are local to Randolph and would like to donate directory, there is a fund set up at Union State Bank. Thank you in advance for your support!
