Elevator For Tader

Brayden, aka. Tader, was born a healthy baby boy in December 2008. When he turned one month old, he was rushed to the ER, where they sent him immediately to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. After being admitted to the NICU, doctor reports confirmed he had non-accidental head trauma. When Brayden was 3 years old he was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegia dystonic cerebral palsy. (https://research.cerebralpalsy.org.au/what-is-cerebral-palsy/types-of-cerebral-palsy/spastic-cerebral-palsy/ ) Since Brayden's injuries, he has been on various medications to control seizures and muscle tone. He currently travels to Children's hospital to have his Intrathecal Baclofen pump (https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/8997-intrathecal-baclofen-pump) filled every 21 days. He can not stand with out someone holding him up, he cannot bend his legs easily, when on the floor he uses his arms to drag himself around, kind of like an army crawl to get where he wants to go while not in his wheelchair. To put it in a perspective, his legs feel like having a Charlie horse/cramp that never goes away. He uses a manual wheelchair to get around at home and while at school. Fast forwards a few years: Brayden is a happy 9 year old boy and is now going in for a double femoral osteotomy hip surgery http://www.surgeryencyclopedia.com/Fi-La/Hip-Osteotomy.html and a corrective positioning foot surgery in both feet in April 2018. The surgeries need to be completed before Brayden turns 12 years old and the bones harden, to where it would be too difficult to rotate the hips to the correct position. The surgeries are extensive and require weeks off of school. He will be mostly home bound after this and in an inpatient rehabilitation facility. This GoFundMe was set up in the hope to raise money to have a wheelchair lift installed in our home. This will allow Brayden to function more independently as well as feel more included while he recovers with even less mobility than he currently has. Brayden is a wonderful big brother and would love to move freely around the house as his 2 younger siblings do. We have made as many adjustments and accommodations to our home that were possible, the lift is more expensive being $35,091.50 from start to finish.
