Surgical Hats for COVID ICU RNs
Donation protected
Hello!
Due to the overwhelming use of PPE across many hospitals in NYC and now the US, there is a limited supply. Many of my female as well as male colleagues are looking for a studier way of protecting the top of our head while taking care of COIVD19 patients.
Often we are given surgical bouffants:
Which are cheap & easy, but they're just that... cheap. A study by the American College of Surgeons had found that "the bouffant hats had greater permeability" to airborne particulates than cloth material.*
So! That's where this idea of getting cloth surgical caps made to securely stay on our heads and cover our hair comes in. I fortunately have a family member who is a costume designer and can make these rather easily and at cost/shipping, roughly $15/per hat. She can get these out to me in a rapid fashion.
Re-usable, washable and longer lasting. This will be a test run to see the durability and we can expand at a later date if need be. Thank you for the time reading this message. Stay safe and healthy!
Support your frontline workers!!
Best,
Jenna
