Support Yousef In Rebuilding His Life

Hello, my name is Kennedy, I am 22 years old, and I live in the midwest in the United States. I am making this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear friend, Yousef Hassan. I have been personally working with and fundraising for Yousef since late February 2024 and remain in consistent communication with him. I appreciate your understanding.* Yousef and this GoFundMe are supported by Free Palestine ICT, a grassroots organization founded in Wichita, KS, that aims to bring awareness to Palestine within the community and fundraises to aid in the evacuation and healing of families and individuals like Yousef, who have or are currently enduring the ongoing aggression.

Yousef is a bright and talented young man from the Tal Al Hawa neighborhood in the Gaza Strip who became displaced after his home and everything he has worked hard for has been bombed.

After losing 90% of his family, Yousef endured over seven months surviving through the ongoing genocide in Palestine, sheltering alone around the Kuwaiti Hospital in Rafah, near the Egyptian border. Yousef sheltered from school to hospital on his own, losing about 52 kg, and at times, having to resort to animal feed to keep from starving.

Yousef is a smart and kind 24-year-old man, who is multilingual in Arabic, Russian, English, Bulgarian, & Japanese. He is a multi-disciplined artist with a passion for writing poetry, drawing, and creating music. Yousef is extraordinarily accomplished for his age and circumstances, becoming one of the top students in his class at Alkarmal School, skilled in accounting, and a music teacher of many instruments across the spectrum.

In March of 2024, Yousef discovered he had surviving family members who he had become separated from amongst the aggression; His sister, Aseel (22), brother, Khaled (21), & their mother, Feirouz, 52.

As of late April 2024, Yousef was able to evacuate to Cairo, Egypt, through the Rafah Crossing, all thanks to amazing donors like yourself. Shortly after, Yousef was able to reunite with his surviving family members, just days before the Rafah Crossing was invaded and deemed inoperable after opposing forces took control.

With Yousef now being across the border and able to find safety; He now runs into a new set of obstacles- starting over. Some of Yousef’s responsibilities include: Obtaining a citizenship visa to seek asylum in another country before his temporary Egyptian visa expires (from where, he does not know yet), Securing money for rent for him and his surviving family, supporting his sister through her university education, feeding himself and his family, obtaining finances for travel expenses when the time comes for him to find somewhere safer to begin the long process of rest, recovery, and healing. Yousef’s dream more than anything on Earth is to travel. He wants to visit the U.S., Japan, New Zealand- everywhere on Earth.

Yousef is an inspiration to so many people around the world, and against all odds in the midst of genocide, Yousef was able to connect and build a community of global support. Unfortunately, we cannot do this alone and invite you to donate if you have the means, in order to secure the basic necessities for Yousef and his family to survive, to help them rebuild their lives, and assist them in pursuing their dreams and goals they once had, before the genocide.
