Trey’s Story

This is a journey shared by many who face the overwhelming reality of a cancer diagnosis.

Richard Fulton, lovingly known as Trey, was born in 1976 in North Central Florida. Like so many raised in rural communities, he grew up surrounded by close-knit neighbors and cherished traditions. He thrived on the football field, playing for Suwannee High School, where he and his teammates secured three consecutive division championships, rising to the top of their league.

Following high school, Trey enlisted in the U.S. Army, dedicating 20 years in service to his country and the freedoms Americans hold dear. He completed three tours in Iraq, where exposure to hazardous chemical burn pits would ultimately set the stage for his battle with glioblastoma.

In the late 1990s, Trey met and fell in love with Theresa, and in May 2000, they married. Together, they raised two remarkable children, Nevaeh and Kyan. Through every challenge, Theresa, Nevaeh, and Kyan have remained unwavering in their fight against Trey’s diagnosis.

Trey’s battle began in April 2023 with his initial diagnosis of glioblastoma in his right frontal lobe. Shortly after, he underwent his first craniotomy, followed by six weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. Despite treatment, the tumor continued to grow. In May 2024, he was accepted into a clinical trial, receiving three infusions of an experimental CAR-T immunotherapy. To everyone’s relief, he responded exceptionally well—the tumor shrank.

But in April 2025, two years after the initial diagnosis, his medical team discovered another tumor—this time in his left frontal lobe.

On April 9 of this year, Trey faced another craniotomy—this time while awake. In May, he will start 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. His doctors are writing the FDA to seek approval for second CAR-T immunotherapy treatment since he responded well to the first.

At this critical moment, we ask for your support—whether through contributions toward ongoing medical costs since Trey is unable to work or through your prayers for Trey, Theresa, and their children as they continue this fight.
