Support Tom Moore

Tom Moore has been a part of countless lives in Santa Barbara and Ojai for the past 50 years. In addition to being an incredible father to his three grown kids, Tom has tutored hundreds of math students over the last 20 years in Ojai. The other way you may know Tom is from his passion for photography, shooting countless events including high school sporting, memorable family photos, holidays, plays, music and art. His photos have been published in books and newspapers in the community.

Over the last 12 months Tom faced tremendous adversity impacting his health and mental wellbeing and costing him his transportation and pretty soon his home. Earlier this year, Tom had surgery to replace his knee with the hopes of improving his mobility. This surgery left him in rehab for 3+ months, impacting his ability to walk and cost him many of his in-person tutoring students. He faces subsequent hip surgery scheduled for March.

In addition to his health, Tom faces eviction without a place to live after Nov 30. The house he is currently renting was sold and now he is being asked to leave. As many of you know, the housing market is very difficult right now and Tom’s had no luck in finding an affordable place to live in Ojai or even in Ventura county. Homelessness is looming for Tom.

Last week, Tom was in a car accident which damaged his car and only mode of transportation. The repair bill creates additional financial burden and he currently doesn’t have any way to get around to work or to buy groceries.

If you asked Tom how he’s doing, he’ll tell you he’s fine. The reality is Tom has had an extremely difficult year and faces financial, housing and health uncertainty. He needs this same community he's been an active member of to pull together to help him through this difficult time.

Your support will help Tom fix his car, assist with finding a safe and stable new place to live and moving costs so he can get back on his feet and do what he does best - tutor the next generation of Ojai students and take some photos :).
