The Saint Dominic Academy Dance Team has been competing for the past 31 years. They are Hudson County’s only competitive High School Dance Team. The team consists of 9 members from across Hudson and Bergen counties. They are coached by alums Marie Pompeo-Maffia ‘79 and Amanda Herring ‘06 as well as volunteer coach Taylor Siebel ‘14.
The SDA Dance Team is a 3 time National Champion 2016, 2017 and 2018. In 2018, the Dance Team defeated 32 other teams from across the country to repeat as small varsity champions! They are the recipients of the award for best choreography as well as technical excellence for highest overall score in the small varsity division. In 2017, they received the highest overall score out of 350 teams in the entire competition!
Over the years they have won many local and State titles, sportsmanship awards as well as All State team accolades and scholarships.
Since their inception 31 years ago, they have practiced at a college facility, but are now blessed with their very own home! Siena Hall!
As a dance team, having mirrors is essential for good, effective practices, which Siena Hall currently does not have. Our campaign is to have mirrors permanently installed in Siena Hall to continue to make our Dance Team the best they can be!
