March 21st UPDATE:
As many of you may have heard, very sadly Aliyah passed away on March 19th.

Please see update below from Ashley:
"Our sweet baby girl passed away peacefully in my arms yesterday evening. After 58 days we were finally able to hold our baby. We spent the day taking turns holding her, reading stories, listening to music, singing songs and telling her how she was so incredibly loved. Words can’t describe how we are feeling right now, our hearts feel shattered. We love you so much Moosey, you fought SO hard and we are so proud of you. Thank you for letting us be your Mommy and Daddy, you will never be forgotten and we will always celebrate you. We are so thankful she got such wonderful care from the PICU team at the Stollery Children's Hospital"

Please see below for Aliyah's story from her Mom, Ashley.

"Monday January 20th is when a parent’s worst fear happened to us.
After taking Aliyah to the doctor with a bad cough and fever, we were soon told “We are very sorry, but Aliyah has cancer” by the oncologist at Children’s Hospital Winnipeg. In that moment our world came crashing down and now we are living in what feels like a nightmare.

Our 18 month old daughter Aliyah has a large mass behind her heart that goes into her abdomen. January 21st, we were flown to Edmonton to the Stollery children’s hospital so they could preform a biopsy to see what we are up against. Unfortunately with Aliyah being in critical condition and the placement of the tumour they needed to ensure they had all the resources and equipment Winnipeg doesn’t have. Aliyah thankfully didn’t need ECMO during the biopsy but on January 25th her condition deteriorated and she needed to be put on ECMO.

Her biopsy results came back indicating that the mass is what they call a Neuroblastoma. It’s considered to be a very aggressive one. The tumour is pushing against the heart and lungs, which is causing a lot of concern. Her lung has collapsed more, causing more difficulty for Aliyah to get oxygen. This is why they had to resort to putting her on ECMO. The Oncologists have said chemo takes time to work and unfortunately we don’t have a lot of time.

Aliyah has received 2 emergency radiation treatments and has one more to go. They are hopeful that within a week they may see it shrinking, that being said it needs to shrink in the right place, which is by her heart and lungs. Aliyah remains in the PICU in critical condition. The team at the Stollery has indicated that we will be in Edmonton for weeks to come, and that some of the medications Aliyah will require will not be covered by Manitoba Health".

Both Ashley and her husband Louis are with Aliyah in Edmonton currently, with Aliyah's condition being so critical, neither are working during this time.

Your donation will support their family during this heartbreaking time, as well as support any treatments or medications Aliyah may require that the family is to pay for out of pocket.
