Support Red Carpet Cinema & support disability

Hi there, my name is Elise and I chair a community group called Red Carpet Cinema (RCC) based in Perth. It is all about service and volunteering so we can offer young adults with intellectual disabilities and additional needs the opportunity to go out on a Friday night. These young people have very few social outlets so Red Carpet is their highlight for the month. RCC offers friendship, a sense of belonging and community, and most importantly fun through movies, dancing and popcorn! We offer a pretty chill space with beanbags and our Red Carpeters are well supported by Curtin University student volunteer mentors promoting independence and peer to peer interaction. The laughter and buzz in the room is magnificent!!

Your support will ensure Red Carpet continues well into 2022. Our Participants love Red Carpet and your support will enable this group to continue to enjoy a fabulous night out each month.

Our group runs on "the smell of an oily rag"! Each year we have to pay our insurances and this is by far our biggest cost. We have been going now for 6 years which is fantastic and it serves a real purpose for our disability community. We have brightly coloured bean bags which give the space a wow factor and we now find that we need to go through replacing many of the bags which have served their purpose well, but are falling apart or stained. We rely on small participant donations each month for entry and with the recent covid restrictions it has left our accounts looking quite depleted.

Your support will allow us to pay for our insurance and replace our bean bags to continue to offer a bright, beautiful and inviting space for our participants to relax and enjoy a great night out.

We would like to replace the bean bags over the December break, to start the new year fresh and know we have funds in the bank to pay for our 2022 insurance costs. Any extra will allow us to offer additional fun such as hosting band nights, movie singalong nights with burgers and a Christmas party. As you can imagine, these go off!!

Your support would be greatly received. We are 4 Mums who have run this group for 6 years and each of us have a child with a disability. Having your support will allow us to breathe easily knowing we can continue to run this much needed group for young adults who don't have the same opportunities to go out and socialise as often as they would like.
