Donation protected
Let me tell you the story of this man named Rabbit. Nine years ago, he arrived in Holden Beach with a broken heart and a surfboard. He started offering random people on the beach the opportunity to learn to surf for free. He just wanted to share the love of surfing. Eventually, it became a successful 5-star business, the only surf school in the area. Over the years, he has taught more than 2,000 people to surf!
However, things have changed. The ocean has changed. This beach and its dangers have changed. His surf school has morphed into a volunteer safety education program. He spends 11 hours a day, 7 days a week protecting and educating a constantly rotating door of visitors because no one else will do it. The city refuses to provide any protection for a beach where countless people have needed rescuing. Rabbit himself has rescued a whopping 32 people in the last nine years!
While he stays vigilant and protects Avenue A well, sadly many have been taken by the sea farther along the beach. For this reason, he is trying to spread his education and protection program all the way down the East End of the island. He's doing all of this with no funding. Hundreds of people have tried donating to him directly, but he refuses to take the money. For this reason, I'm making this fund to help support. With enough funding, his volunteer program can be turned into a non-profit that will continue to run even after Rabbit has retired and left this beach. Please support, share, and spread the love.
Check out his Facebook page, under the name Timothy Turner, to see reviews, daily posts and updates about what he is doing, and all the love and support he receives from the community. https://www.facebook.com/share/16UXjpmq7a/
Once this goal is met, he will be taking a check, 10 volunteers, and 5,000 whistles directly to town hall and asking them to implement this safety program.
