In April of this year, Parker started experiencing unusual symptoms including chest pain, left sided weakness, visual disturbances, and unrelenting nausea and vomiting. After numerous diagnostic tests over two hospital stays, it has been discovered that Parker has a rare autoimmune neurologic condition that has resulted in demyelination of nerves in his brain and spinal cord. He continues to be unsteady on his feet due to ongoing vertigo and has unfortunately experienced a number of falls since his symptoms began.

Parker is an ICU nurse in Kansas City, MO at one of the largest and busiest facilities around and has dedicated his career to caring for the critically ill. He and his family reside on a small farm north of Kansas City. All of us who have the privilege to know Parker personally know he is a loyal friend and family man. He is a father of two school-aged boys, and he and his wife Jordan, who is also a critical care nurse, are expecting a child later on this year.

With the uncertainty of the time-frame and degree to which recovery will take place for Parker, the financial security of his family is hanging in the balance.

Jordan has experienced a multitude of medical issues of her own in the past two years that have required surgeries with a considerable amount of recovery time away from work. With Jordan’s recent health issues as well as upcoming maternity leave and Parker being unable to work as well as continuing to accrue the costs of ongoing medical treatment, Jordan and Parker need our help to get ahead of these expenses so they can focus on getting Parker healthy and welcoming the arrival of their new baby.

Every dollar contributed would be greatly appreciated and will make a tremendous impact. Let’s spread the word and help this family of nurses in their time of need!
