Support Our Edna (Hippey)

Edna, Our sister, our Cousin, our Co-Worker, Friend and Mother. was diagnosed with stage 2 tonsil cancer about 2 months ago. Her prognosis is good, the recovery is slow and the financial burden is overwhelming.  After a 6-hour surgery and 10 days in the hospital she was sent home to continue her recovery.  She is lucky, she doesn’t need the additional treatment of Chemotherapy or Radiation. She does need weeks of Speech Therapy and Physical Therapy before she can return to work at FedEx.  The speech therapy is to help her regain hopefully, at least 90% use of her jaw that currently function at only 40% of what it should.  She’s been left with a hole in the soft pallet part of her throat, making eating and talking very difficult, this should also improve over time with speech therapy.  The physical therapy is to strengthen her right shoulder where they had to remove lymph nodes in her neck.   As she is a very independent single person living on her own, this has become a financial burden for her.  If you know her, you know she gives till she can’t give any more. She has many times placed the needs of others before herself. 

We can’t help with her physical recovery, but we can help with her financial burden so she can focus on her healing.

 

Funds raised will go to her medical bills and day to day expenses while she recovers.
