On Saturday, September 5, 2026, Eau Claire Police Officer Skyler Klevgard sustained multiple fractures to his femur in the line of duty. A suspect ran from officers and while pursuing him Officer Klevgard sustained the fractures to his right femur. Officer Klevgard had surgery on his fractured femur and was released from the hospital on September 8, 2026.

Officer Klevgard and his family have a long road to recovery in front of them. Skyler and his wife Sarah have three young children. Sarah is employed and is also pursuing a degree in Nursing. The Klevgard family will be experiencing increased childcare costs as a result of this work-related injury. With their families living outside the area, Skyler and Sarah do not have family nearby to help with the additional demands they will face during his recovery. Basic family responsibilities such as picking up groceries, house cleaning, lawn mowing and snow removal will be very difficult.

The support Skyler, Sarah, and their children have already received from friends, coworkers, and the community has meant a great deal to them. It is hoped that this fundraiser can ease some of the practical and financial burdens created by this unexpected injury and allow the family to focus their energy on Skyler’s recovery and caring for their children.
