Support my mother’s lifetime treatment

Hello everyone, my name is Jovani Furlan Jr. and with sadness I’m here writing on behalf of my father, Jovani Furlan and my two sisters, Gabriella and Graziella Furlan.

 

On November 25th 2021, my mother, Cici Furlan, suffered a cardiac arrest at home. Two lifeguards that were nearby tried to reanimate her for fifteen minutes until the paramedics arrived, her heart stopped for fifty five minutes, and against all odds, she survived. My mother is already a miracle!

 

Her heart stopped two more times at the hospital and she was put into a medically induced coma. On the following two days, as the sedatives were being slowly removed, the doctors told us that because of the severity of her brain injury and the amount of time that she didn’t have oxygen in her brain, that she would not improve very much. Since then, a vegetative state has been declared.

 

We are a very spiritual family, we all have our individual faiths that serve as hope and a point of unison between all of us. Everyday we pray for a miracle! We know it has happened before and we feel in our hearts that it can happen for her as well!

 

Cici, my mother, spent two weeks in the ICU and one more week in the recovery room. Thankfully in Brazil we had all of that taken care of by our public health care system. At this time, we’re getting ready for her to leave the hospital and that comes with a lot of costs that have to be fully covered by our family.

 

She needs 24/7 care and a room that’s fully equipped to all of her needs. It’s been a very painful learning process of understanding what needs to be done in order to keep her comfortable and alive. Between full-time nurses, an equipped bed, medications, diapers, physical therapy, exams, nutrition and a proper home for her to stay, the costs have added up tremendously.

 

So here we are, as a family, seeking the support of our loved ones and people that might feel like they can help us make this transition smoother and support my mother for the upcoming months. It hurts a lot to write this…never in my life I thought I’d be here, asking for financial aid for my mother for something like this. We are all devastated, my mother is my best friend.

We’re so grateful beyond words for everyone’s generosity, as a family, we’re so touched by the love we’ve been receiving. In this world, money plays such a big role and these donations give us a sliver of comfort and it eases our stress.

Even tho with every donation we still wish we did not have to be collecting this money. We truly do not know what the costs will be and for how long they will be.
