Support My Journey to Learn Organic Farming

Hello friends and family!

Psychology to Farming...
It sounds wild to me as well, considering I have absolutely no experience farming. However God has put this passion in my heart and I want to pursue it!

Working at Trader Joe's has put in perspective how easily impacted the food chain is. Trader Joe's, and the vast majority of grocery stores, rely on farmers globally to produce the food that goes into stores. In addition, they come in refrigerated trucks that rely on gas and electricity to insure they come intact.

It is scary to think about if this supply chain was to be interrupted.

However, I have faith that Jesus protects and sustains us. "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" Matthew 6:26.

In addition, many farmers are getting old and retiring. My generation will be the ones to take up this massive responsibility. If you were to ask any millenial or gen Z, you'd realize that we are going to have a ton of social media influencers, hairstylists and real estate agents on our hands, NOT farmers.

This is why I am not taking this trip lightly. It is a chance for me to learn all about the process of successful organic farming.

The organization WWOOF, World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms, is a verified and legit way to connect people to work-stays on organic farms. It has connected me with this older lady from the netherlands named Henrike. She has the most amazing reviews out of any farm on there. My trip would be three weeks long, aug 19th- sep 9th.

In the mornings and afternoons I will learn from Henrike, along with other WWOOFers, to maintain the farms "production of vegetables, as well big scale as old fashioned hand work in special plants as coloured carrots and striped beetroot. As well as selling veggies on the market in the next village over."

Instead of monetary pay, I get paid in the form of knowledge and a little cottage to sleep in. On fridays I will help sell the veggies on the market. (Which is funny cause I do that now at Trader Joes). I will also be given a bike and free time in the evenings.

If you cannot donate I hope this has inspired you to feel thankful the next time you walk into a grocery store.

All donations will go to my trip expenses including my passport, travel visa, and plane tickets. I really appreciate you taking the time to hear the reason behind my passion. God bless <3
