My name is Mia Preston, and I am a sophomore at Cedar Crest College. I have been offered the incredible opportunity to travel with my peers to Tanzania, Africa in January, 2026. This trip is an educational service exploration to provide much-needed medical care to underprivileged communities. We will set up field clinics, complete home visits in two different towns, and provide care to the Aman Center orphanage. I chose this trip that is organized by International Service Learning, or ISL, because they are a non-governmental program that has been providing medical care to those in need for over 30 years. I have always been passionate about helping people, and this passion has led me to a major in nursing. This health service trip will allow me to fuel my passion and expand my knowledge about underprivileged countries. This will also give me the chance to experience situations that will build my empathy towards my future patients. I want to express my gratitude for any donations, whether small or large, as it will give me the ability to build on my humanitarian values.
