My name is Matt. This was not easy for me to do. I know that there are many people like me being faced with very difficult circumstances.

Since 2008, I have been hit with multiple health issues and had no choice but to be put on permanent disability. Over the course of that time, between medications and the issues themselves, my body has been crippled. With that, I was already limited to what I was able to do with one good leg to have some mobility.

In July, just before my mother's birthday, she passed away, which put even more strain on my health. I have insomnia because of the pain I live with, but it was even worse because of mourning. I tell you this to explain why I’m asking for help. With the lack of sleep, I ended up on the floor, and when trying to get up, I broke my right leg. This was my good leg that supported what movement I had.

I'm faced with not being able to bear weight on it for three months. I’m in a rehab facility, and the insurance only covered the first 20 days. After that, I have a copay of over $200 a day; if they stop, it’s over $400 per day. I’m at that stage, and they are asking for money up front, which we don’t have. I can’t go home because it’s just me and my wife, who works full time, and I can’t even stand to get out of bed or use the restroom. I need to have help full time, which makes it my only choice to be in this facility.
