Support Mason's Swim Goals
Donation protected
I am Mason's mom (Audrey) and I'm raising funds for Mason's swim team altitude training trip in Utah this June.
Goals:
Mason would like to reach "champ time" in as many races as possible. Any race he reaches a “champ time” in, he will be eligible to compete in at the State Swim Meets in March and July. The State Swim Meets are the championships for the fastest kids across the state of Minnesota.
In addition to “champ time” goals, Mason has a goal of getting his first “zone time” and competing at the Zones Swim Meet on Team Minnesota in August. The Zones meet is a once-a-year meet where the fastest kids across each state create a state team to compete against other states. This is a huge achievement and the highest level of competition for his age group. See the pinned photo for Mason's current time goals and Personal Records.
This Utah Training Trip will help him reach his goals and bond more with his teammates.
About the trip:
The purpose of this two-week altitude training trip is multi-faceted. Training and living at altitude cause the body to make physiological adaptations, which causes a significant increase in the body’s ability to absorb and utilize oxygen. This naturally increases the swimmer’s aerobic capacity. The trip will include physical training, team bonding and working on the mental side of competition.
In addition to two-a-day practices, there will be mountaintop activities—like hiking and field games—which will be moderate and fun in nature to help boost the altitude effect. Near the end of the trip, our team will be competing in a swim meet at the local pool.
Our team will have daily team meetings where swimmers will learn how to communicate the old-fashioned way, talking face to face. These meetings will cover a range of topics including nutrition, motivation, and goal setting—for both individuals and the team. Swimmers will practice their new communication skills in a fun, relaxed atmosphere while getting to connect more and know each other better.
