Maria Cabrera is my sister, and she’s a single mother of four children who has been struggling ever since her oldest child passed away. Her oldest son, who was 19 years old, used to help support the family, but tragically he was shot while waiting for the train at the metro station. Since then, Maria has faced even more challenges, trying to keep her family together and provide for her kids on her own.
Maria recently lost her job because she needs to care for her child with autism, who requires extra support at school. Most schools won’t accept him because he wears diapers, so Maria has to go to the school and help with his care. This makes it impossible for her to work outside the home, and her immigration status means she can’t apply for new jobs without documentation like a social security number or identification. The father of her children is not in the picture due to addiction issues, leaving Maria to support her family alone.
Right now, Maria needs help with basic necessities like diapers, clothing for the kids, school supplies, and food. I’m doing this fundraiser because she’s going through a hard time, and any support you can offer will make a real difference for her and her children. Thank you for reading Maria’s story and for considering a donation to help her family.
