A Community Lifeline for Johnfrederick Daniels: Beating Breast Cancer
Our friend Johnfrederick Daniels-- a gifted artist and father of five who has transformed personal loss into powerful art--is facing a sudden and difficult masterpiece: his own recovery. If you've driven through the streets of Buffalo, you've likely felt the impact of Johnfredrick's work before you even knew his name. In the wake of the May 14th massacre at Tops Market, Buffalo was in mourning. At a time when there were no words, Johnfredrick stepped forward to volunteer his talent. Believing that art has the power to heal, he turned a massive wall across from the tragedy site into a vibrant tribute to the victims, offering a message of hope, remembrance, and resilience to a grief-stricken community.
Now, the man who gave so much himself, is facing his own battle. Johnfredrick has been diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer, a rare diagnosis for men which often leads to late detection. In Johnfredrick's case, the cancer has reached his lymph nodes, requiring an aggressive and physically taxing treatment plan.
As a freelance muralist, Johnfredrick's body is his livelihood. The physical demands of painting on such a massive scale are now impossible for him, and he is struggling to cover basic financial needs and medical costs throughout his recovery.
Johnfredrick showed up for his community. Let's show up for him now. Please donate if you can, share his powerful story and spread awareness about breast cancer in men. Every gift, large or small helps ensure that Johnfredrick can focus on surviving and thriving in the New Year.
