Sandro “Sam” Barberio
May 24, 1970 - March 24, 2021
A golden heart, a gentle soul, a giver in all ways and gone too soon-Sam will always be greatly missed by his family and many loved ones from his unexpected passing at Trillium Hospital-Mississauga on March 24, 2021.
A loving and dutiful son, brother, friend, and overall root in the community. Sam is one of the greatest guys anyone could ever be privileged to meet. He embodies the definition of what kindness really is.
Sam Barberio- a graduate in Computer Training, a local, successful engine builder and the 5x Champion Crew Chief of the Pano Moros’ GTO was always surrounded by many friends at the track and always lent his helping hands to those in need.
Sam will be remembered for some of his classic sayings, such as, “Mi mangiano vivo (they eat me alive)”, “we’re gonna educate the city”, and “non tenu nenti (I have nothing)”.
One saying he said often- “Here he comes to save the day”. His saying is actually the perfect description of himself, as Sam was always the one to come save the day.
He gave and helped in any way he possibly could. There is an incredible amount of people who can vouch for this, as Sam touched the lives of so many across Ontario, Canada and internationally.
Sam will forever be known as the one who shared his masterful and mechanical skills, generously gave his time and energy to all, without any complaint or motive; other than to be the rare gem of a kind, giving soul who will always be remembered by his family, race team, customers and friends.
More so, Sam was a full-time, sole and primary caregiver and provider for his mother and brother for their various medical needs and overall care and wellbeing. Unfortunately, with Sam’s unexpected passing, this has left his mother and brother vulnerable and in urgent need of care and support.
Mrs. Barberio and Sam’s brother, Rossario, heavily relied on Sam to provide and care for their various needs. Such as, assisting with the costs of living, medical needs and other necessities. Additionally, he was the person responsible to provide transportation for his brother and mother to weekly medical appointments. Also, Sam was a full-time personal support worker to his family, assisting with the administration of daily insulin shots and other preparations of medical equipment and prescription management.
Sam consistently illustrated what kindness, generosity and community is and means. Now is the much needed and appreciated time to help give and support a true hero’s family, to provide assistance with funeral costs and more importantly, his mother and brother’s medical needs.
Sam was the glue and link to multiple communities; he demonstrated a compassion that is hard to match. During this tragic time of grieving, his loved ones truly appreciate any and every contribution made to help support and give the care to his family that Sam lovingly and dutifully did every day.
Every donation makes a sincere difference towards helping alleviate the costs and hardships at this time to find sustainable, long-term support for Sam’s family. Thank you kindly in advance.
