Donation protected
My name is Raeliza Alfonso. My family is setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my father Ramon Alfonso (Tatay) Vietnam Navy Veteran , who passed away suddenly due to complication of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) . I want to be able celebrate the wonderful life my father lived & last two years he fought the greatest fight of his life. Even through his struggle, my father had the kindest soul & biggest heart.
As we prepare ourselves as a family , We are reaching out to the community for any support big or small to help cover my fathers funeral expenses during this painful process. Be able to lay him to rest & celebrate the wonderful life he lived!
His passing
He was hospitalized May 31, 2024. He was diagnosed with pneumonia & several blood clots in the lungs. At 5:30am His heart was beating at 150 compensating for the lack of oxygen he was breathing. He was put on many steroids & antibiotics . He was put on heparin to thin the blood clots , unfortunately my father bled to death June 15 at 3am until his death 9:35am, surrounded family.
My Father's Journey
My father battled severe COPD, January 2023.
- He survived 2 Covid infections
- multiple pneumonias through 2023-2024
- Blood clot in the lungs in June.
- Internal bleeding due to heparin in his legs.
- About 10-15 emergency visits due to exacerbations.
- He suffers from PTSD
- major depressive disorder
- severe anxiety
I have gone through everything with my father side-by-side doctor visits staying overnight, rushing to him to most of his anxiety attacks and comforting him so he doesn’t feel alone all my father wanted to do was come home And I wasn’t able to bring him home. I hope you all enjoy every moment with your parents and your love ones suffering from this type of disease or any type of illness. These moments are very precious. I couldn’t be more proud of my father for the fight he fought. As a daughter of a veteran ,I am so proud of you! We are all proud of you!
I want to thank you all for all support during this difficult time. I want to thank all the doctors, nurses, lvn, cna's , and nurse sitters aiding my father through his copd journey. A tremendous thank you and appreciation to Palazzo Post Acute staff who endlessly made him feel safe, loved & cared for.
My father was good man . The kindest heart even after all the pain he endured and the trauma he suffered. We love you dad so much! I hope you’re flying high and breathing easy!
We grateful for all the support !
