Our hearts are broken as we share the tragic loss of Mahadi Redwan, a 23-year-old young man from Bangladesh who came to Canada only six months ago with hope, courage, and a dream to build a better future for his family.
On November 12, Mahadi was found deceased in Nanaimo after being reported missing. His passing is now part of a criminal investigation. His friends, community, and loved ones are devastated as we struggle to accept this painful reality.
You can read the news report here:
Mahadi was someone everyone loved instantly—gentle, honest, humble, hardworking, and deeply caring. He worked two jobs, saving every dollar for his family and his pregnant wife back home. He dreamed of giving his child a better life. He wanted to be a good son, a good husband, and a good father. He never got the chance.
Why We Are Raising Funds
The most heartbreaking part is that Mahadi’s family is thousands of miles away in Bangladesh—grieving alone, unable to see their son one final time.
We are raising funds to:
- Cover Mahadi’s funeral and related expenses
- Repatriate his body to Bangladesh, so his family can see him, pray for him, and give him the final respect he deserves
- Provide financial support to Mahadi’s wife and their unborn child during this unimaginably difficult time
Sending a loved one home is extremely expensive, and his family simply cannot afford this burden. They have lost their son—and his young wife has lost her husband and the father of her child. They should not have to face these hardships alone.
How You Can Help
Your support will help bring Mahadi home to the people who loved him most.
- It will help a grieving mother see her son one last time.
- It will help his young wife—who is expecting their first child—find stability and strength as she faces the future without him.
- It will help us honour a life taken far too soon.
No amount is too small. Every contribution brings us closer to giving Mahadi the dignity, love, and farewell he deserves, while also supporting the family he worked so hard for.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and prayers.
May Mahadi rest in peace. His memory will remain with us forever.
