Support for Adrian Nel's Family

Donation protected
On Friday March 26, 2021, Adrian Nel, outstanding father to my nieces and nephew (2, 6 and 9),  20-year partner and devoted husband to my sister, and deeply loved family member and friend to so many, died in Palma, northern Mozambique, where he was working. He was killed during a days-long siege and terrorist attack. April 1st would have been his 41st birthday.

Adrian was an all-around amazing person, beloved by all who knew him. He was magic. He brightened everyone's day, was always up for an adventure, and was adored by his wife, children, and all the family. His motocross friends remember him as a "legend", and his dive crews credit him for teaching them all they knew and for never, ever giving up on them or on a difficult situation. Adrian’s brother and father, who were with him during the attacks, did everything in their power to bring him home, and eventually did so after he had passed. His mother is devastated by this loss and has been a champion of Adrian’s story.

Adrian's sudden and tragic death has left a huge hole in our hearts and lives.

In addition to dealing with the overwhelming loss, Adi’s wife is very suddenly faced with the financial reality of raising three children by herself.  She and the children live in South Africa, where their life with Adrian was rooted. For now, most support will come from family and friends. Adrian had been out of work as a diver due to COVID, and in January went to Mozambique to work with his family’s construction consulting business. With the tragic events and violent takeover of the area, operations have halted. We are urgently looking for immediate assistance for his family as well as looking ahead to the future.

I am raising money:
-to help Adi’s wife and the kids immediately as they cope and adjust to life without him
-to help cover their living costs and school fees while they get on their feet
-to build an education fund for each child

Proceeds of this fundraiser will go to Adi's wife, Janik, and the kids. Our mother, Helene, will be the beneficiary of this fundraiser, and she and I will work together to organize the donations into savings for the future and funds for immediate use, all for Janik and the kids.

Huge thank you all for your friendships and generosity - no amount is too small, everything will be so very appreciated.
