My name is Tristan Szeto, and I am a Life Scout with Troop 28 in Croton-on-Hudson, working toward earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

For my Eagle Scout Service Project, I am working with the Jane E. Lytle Memorial Croton Arboretum and Croton Lions Club to improve the way visitors navigate and learn about this beautiful local community resource.

The Croton Arboretum offers a network of trails where visitors can explore nature, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the natural beauty of our community. However, some of the existing maps and visitor information are outdated and could be improved.

The project will focus on creating updated and easier-to-use trail information for visitors. I will redesign and print an updated trail brochure and color-coded map, as well as construct and install two new map stations at key entrances to the Arboretum.

The new map stations will provide visitors with clear information as soon as they arrive and make it easier to understand the Arboretum's trail system. The updated brochures will also give visitors useful information they can take with them while exploring the trails. QR codes will provide access to additional digital information and resources.

A Lasting Improvement for the Community

This project is more than an Eagle Scout requirement. It is an opportunity for me to give back to the Croton community and help preserve and improve a place that people can enjoy for years to come.

The photos included with this fundraiser show the beauty of the Croton Arboretum and the trails that this project will help improve. I hope they give you a sense of why this project is important and why I am excited to take on this challenge.

Once completed, the updated maps, brochures, and map stations will provide visitors with better information and a more welcoming experience at the Arboretum.

Any funds remaining after the project is completed will be returned to the Croton Arboretum to support its continued work and maintenance.
