Join Our Toy and Virtual Drive to benefit IHAD

Dear LycéeLA Community,

Each year, one of our favorite events in Middle School is to coordinate the Toy Drive for the elementary, middle and high school, which benefits the "I Have A Dream Foundation" (IHAD) and their students (aka Dreamers).

IHAD is a unique program that helps underprivileged children by providing a long-term program of after-school, academic enhancement and summer activities. When the Foundation has the necessary funds, they select an entire class of first graders in an under-resourced local neighborhood and follow them for 10 years - from 1st grade through high school and into college.

We, the Student Council and the LycéeLA Community, have been following two groups of students in recent years: one group of Dreamers is in 7th and 8th grade (P20-Inglewood) and another group is now in 12th grade (P19-Boyle Heights). Our Student Council journey began with them when the Boyle Heights dreamer scholars were in 1st grade and they are now 12th graders – all grown and almost out of high school.

Please join our Toy Drive (accepting actual toy donations – Wish List below) and Virtual Drive to sponsor the P19 group and contribute to their college sponsorship. In addition to their college sponsorship, each dreamer is given $1,000 by IHAD to help with their first year of living expenses in college. IHAD is counting on our help to consolidate this important goal. After supplementing the toy drive, all donations will go directly to this cause.

We want to ensure that we continue to put a smile on the faces of the Dreamers, whatever their age!

Please help us spread Holiday Cheer and bring a smile to those less fortunate.
