Hello, my name Latonya Young and I’d like to share my brother's Donnie Woods Jr. story with you. He is a dedicated father of three and proudly hails from Tifton, Georgia. Right now, he is fighting a difficult battle against sarcoidosis, a condition that causes small clusters of immune cells to form in various parts of the body. The exact cause of sarcoidosis is still unclear, but it is generally believed to stem from a mix of genetic and environmental factors.

In my brother’s situation, the disease has significantly affected his lungs, making it critical for him to undergo a double lung transplant. His left lung is not functioning properly, and his right lung is nearly completely compromised. Moreover, his heart is quite weak, requiring substantial effort to maintain enough strength for him to survive. If no alternatives are found, the left lung will need to be removed to allow him to live with just one lung.

He depends on oxygen around the clock and cannot be without it. He is set to have surgery at Emory and will need to remain in Atlanta for at least a year for ongoing care. This campaign is intended to help cover his medication and living expenses during his recovery.
