News coverage of the fire Pulling Together for Diane Agnélé Mensah, Elvyn & Daniel Agboto
A devastating fire struck on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, the apartment of Diane Agnélé Mensah, a single mother, along with her two boys, Elvyn and Daniel. In just moments, they may have lost everything they worked for and held dear. Yet, through the smoke and ashes, one miracle shines bright: they are alive, safe, and still together.
Tragedy is heavy, but compassion makes it lighter. We cannot replace the family’s belongings or the precious memories now turned to ash, but we can ensure that Diane and her children do not have to wander, uncertain of tomorrow.
Diane and her children have always given love and kindness to those around them. Now, it’s our turn to give that love back. Let’s remind her that when tragedy strikes, humanity rises higher.
Every contribution—big or small—will go directly to helping this family find stability: a roof over their heads, a safe bed to rest in, meals to share, and the dignity of knowing they are not alone.
We can’t undo the fire, but we can help rebuild hope. Together, we can make sure that this hot summer does not feel like a season of despair but a time when love, friendship, and solidarity refreshed their hearts.
Would you join us?
Please chip in whatever you can, and let’s show Diane, Elvyn, and Daniel that community is stronger than fire, and love is stronger than loss.
Thank you—for your generosity, for your humanity, and for standing with this family.
