On Wednesday June 7, Derek Arens’ world turned upside down. Waking up from terrible pain in his back and abdomen, he went into the ER thinking he was maybe going to have his appendix removed or passing kidney stones, a quick recovery and move on. However, the news he received later that day was not at all what he was expecting. After getting negative results from several tests, he was told that he had Stage 2C testicular cancer and would need surgery. Surgery was scheduled June 13 and his chemo regiment was put in place. Thankfully he is being treated by many wonderful doctors and nurses at the Mayo Clinic however it has been a challenging journey for him and he is facing a situation that requires both emotional and financial support for him, his wife and two children.

Unfortunately, expenses continue to grow as he undergoes treatment. He is doing everything he can to provide but his treatment plan doesn’t allow him to work continuously and his work place benefits don't include short term income protection. Derek and his family are thankful for all of the blessings they have received to date from family and friends.

We are setting up this GoFund Me page to humbly ask for your financial support to help cover the mounting expenses that have incurred during his battle against cancer. Your donations will go directly towards covering his medical bills, prescription medications, transportation to treatment and other essential expenses until he is able to get fully back to work.
