A Flood of Heartache

Imagine your worst nightmare: a burst pipe, gushing water, and in the blink of an eye, your home – the sanctuary you’ve built for your family – is flooded. This is the devastating reality my family is facing right now.

A recent deep freeze caused a pipe to burst in my home, unleashing a torrent of water that ravaged everything in its path. Furniture, beds, cherished personal belongings – all soaked and ruined. The lingering smell of mildew is a constant reminder of the damage to my loving home.

All that know me know that I’m a hardworking single mom who pours her heart and soul into providing for her kids and helping my family and friends when they are in need. I’ve always offered a helping hand to others, and now, I’m the one in need. While temporary housing has been secured, the costs are mounting. Beyond the roof over our heads, I am struggling to keep up with everyday necessities like groceries, clothes, and basic toiletries. The emotional toll of this disaster is immense, and the financial strain is only adding to the burden.

Thankfully, an insurance claim has been filed, and the house will eventually be repaired. But as anyone who’s experienced displacement knows, the renovation process is long and arduous. It means months of living out of suitcases and bins, disrupted routines, and missing the comfort and security of our own space.
