Corey Edzerza Medical Support

In July Corey went into WGH thinking he would be out there in a few hours. However, they ended up admitting him. Corey was at WGH for 11 days when they flew him to Vancouver to meet with the liver transplant team and do the assessment needed for a transplant. Ashley and Corey were there for a week and weren’t sure how long they were going to be there, so they flew their son and sister to stay with them. They barely got back to Whitehorse and then Pelly Crossing, and as they were landing in Pelly, they got a voicemail stating that Corey was put on the list for a transplant. The next morning they got a call that there was a donor and that they had to fly back to Vancouver. Corey had surgery the next morning, and in the words of the doctor now has a ‘good liver’. Very happy with his progress-about half of his tubes are out, and they moved him out of ICU into the transplant ward. All of this is happening very fast. But this is the first step in a long road to recovery

After the surgery Corey and Ashley will need to stay close to the hospital for 2-3 months in Vancouver.

Thank you in advance for all the prayers. Corey and Ashley need our support -especially being away so far from home and usual support. Forever grateful to the BC hospitals, social medicine support from the Yukon and Federal government. But there’s not a person among us that doesn’t need financial support at a time like this. We need your prayers firstly but Corey and Ashley have months of recovery and uncertainty ahead of them. We appreciate each and everyone of you.
