Support Cindy During Her Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Those of us who know and love Cindy have experienced her incredible compassion and love! She is the one who would be on the helping end of any difficult situation. Cindy is the rock of her family and a best friend to so many. She is adored by anyone lucky enough to have her in their lives, including her kindergarteners from the past 30 years!
Cindy had not been feeling well for about six weeks. However, because she is a dedicated wife, mother, teacher, union activist, friend, and daughter, she continued on despite exhaustion and illness. Cindy was not getting better, so on St. Patrick's Day, she went to the MAC Center. Cindy was diagnosed with pneumonia; but was also found to have a fast growing, Stage IV cancer. Her scans left little hope for any recovery. Admission to Mercy Hospital that evening confirmed cancer in her lungs, liver, spine, and skull bone.
By the Grace of God, a Physician's Assistant working at Mercy Hospital asked Cindy if he could call a friend, a genius who thinks outside of the box in cases like hers. Dr. G. agreed, and the journey began. He is incredible!
Cindy has been denied the opportunity to have a PET scan at this time. She hopes that with more clinical data provided, the PET scan will be approved by the insurance company in the near future. She faced complications after round one of chemotherapy, with admission to Sister’s Hospital for twelve more days. She required daily transfusions and care from specialists and the nursing staff. Their dedication to Cindy’s care was what kept her alive and in a positive frame of mind.
Cindy has recently begun her second round of chemotherapy.
It has become apparent that there is a tremendous need for financial support as Cindy's husband, Rich, has taken time off from work to manage her daily care. Cindy has chemotherapy appointments, outpatient transfusion appointments, and possible admission to Sister’s Hospital for care with specialists and platelet sustainability.
So many friends and family have reached out with prayers, words of kindness, cards and meals. The compassion is heartfelt, and Cindy and her family are overwhelmed by the loving support. Thank you all so much!
Please continue to pray for Cindy, Rich, Rachel and Richie.
For those of you able to offer any financial help through this GoFundMe page, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
