Support Cierra's Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, I’m raising funds for my co-worker’s daughter, Cierra Byrd, who has been diagnosed with brain cancer. On top of the emotional and physical challenges, she now faces a $6,000 insurance deductible. Recently, her mobility has been compromised, making it even harder for her to manage her own healthcare needs. This fundraiser aims to ease the financial burden so Cierra can focus on her recovery. Any support is deeply appreciated. Thank you for reading and for any help you are willing to contribute.
A summary from the family:
A week before Cierra turned 31 in July, 2024 and three weeks before her 3rd anniversary, her dog Oscar head butted her and ultimately saved her life.
Symptoms started with the right side of her face drooping and she was talking with a slur. After a few days of this, she went to ER. They thought her tongue and cheeks were swollen from the head butt so they never did a CT scan. With no improvement to her speech and then starting to lose feeling and the ability to use her right arm, she went to Urgent Care. They gave her an antibiotic thinking it was an infection from the head butt. After losing the ability to use her right hand or feel anything from her shoulder to her fingertips, she went to a PCP doctor who gave her steroids. After falling a few times and losing the ability to feel her right leg to her toes, she went back to ER. She had a CT Scan then and MRI where they found multiple masses in her brain.
In August, 2024 She had a brain biopsy and was diagnosed with high-grade 3-4, (rapid progression) Glioma cancer and multiple inoperable brain tumors. It is considered incurable but not untreatable. This is on the left side of her brain which is pushing on the part of her brain that controls speech and movement of the right side of her body.
She has gone through six weeks of radiation to help stop the growth and has had 6 months of chemo treatments.
Thank you all for the support!
