Support Chuy’s Fight for Immigration Appeal

Hello! My name is Christine and I am creating this GoFundMe to help my husband and his family raise money for an immigration attorney.
On April 20, 2026 my mother in law received a phone call every immigrant family dreads, her husband was being detained. My father in law Jesus (known by family and friends as Chuy) and brother in law Danny were coming home from working on a construction job site finishing dry wall. While traveling through the small town of Ingram, Texas he was stopped due to a crack in his windshield on his van. Due to his citizenship not yet established the Ingram PD call ICE and took him, leaving Danny and the van stranded. Thanks to the amazing staff at a local restaurant, they allowed Danny to sit and wait for us to arrive. Jesse, my mother in law, sister in law and myself drove 1.5 hours to go get Danny and the van. We received one phone call around 1 am from Chuy, he said they told him if he were to sign a piece of paper they would deport him back to Mexico by this Friday (4/24/26) or he can appeal. He also mentioned that the officers told him he may have a good chance with his appeal as he has no criminal history. My father in law is an amazing, God fearing man, always has a smile on his face and the type of person that would give his shirt off his back to someone. He’s a loved father, grandfather, friend, teammate and coach to those he plays baseball with. He has absolutely no criminal history, a man who works hard to provide for his family, enjoys baseball, fishing and at the end of the day coming home to his wife, three children and granddaughter. We have reached out to quite a few nonprofits but have had no luck with taking on a new case. Which we understand as many families are facing the same thing. Our next option, a private attorney. With my father in law who has always been the provider for their household now detained and my mother in law working a part time job (which is at Trinity college and will soon have her hours reduced since it will be summer break), I am please asking anyone to make a donation so we can cover the cost of an attorney to bring Don Chuy home. From the bottom of our hearts we are grateful for any donation, prayers and positive messages as the family navigates through this tough time. On behalf of the Ramirez family, thank you all!
