New Afrikan political prisoner Kijana Tashiri Askari, our Beloved revolutionary freedom fighter who helped organized against torture & abuse of prisoners within the california department of corrections & so-called rehabilitation, needs support for legal funds.
As Brotha Askari continues to experience repression for his successful organizing efforts, its urgent that We help support his legal defense for an upcoming parole board hearing, that’s been pushed three times this year. Due to rising COVID infections along with Brotha Askari’s escalating health risks, Brotha Askari needs to be released ASAP.
Brotha Askari is being held captive for the past 27 years with 21 served in the torture chambers of the pelikkkan bay SHU. Brotha Askari was denied parole three times in the past 10 years, with this year’s parole board hearing pushed back three times as retaliation for filing grievances over inhumane conditions, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic spread through california prisons. along with his parole hearings being sabotaged, Brotha Askari was recently transferred away from a medical facility treating his failing heart.
For anyone who’s unaware, Brotha Askari organized a coordinated effort to end indefinite SHU torture in California state prisons. His courageous work not only demanded & achieved the release & reprieve from violent torture for thousands of people, but also risked his health for participation in multiple hunger strikes. Brotha Askari has contributed to the prisoner human rights movement for decades but is also an educator & mentor with the W.L. Nolen Mentorship Program, which seeks to develop the conscious minds of many New Afrikan Sistas & Brothas, in turn countering neo-colonial rooted violence & misconceptions of being prisoners of war in the so-called united states.
