Hi everyone,

My name is Victoria but a lot of people know me as Tori. I’m raising funds for my one-year-old service dog in training, Booker… a loving Husky and Rottweiler mix who has already had an incredible impact on my life.

On Sunday around noon, I was preparing food for one of my cats when my seizure alert dog started barking. I thought my dogs were just playing, but she was actually alerting me that Booker was having a seizure. When I reached him, he was still disoriented, and as I went to get him a blanket, he went into another seizure. I immediately rushed him to the vet.

After running initial tests, Booker was transported to the emergency room because he was having a grand mal seizure and wasn’t responding to medication the way he should have. When he arrived at the ER, he was in critical condition and had to be placed under anesthesia to control the seizures. Even then, the veterinarians noticed he was still “paddling,” showing signs of continued seizure activity.

The doctors strongly recommended an MRI and spinal tap to help determine the cause, as there were no signs of toxins or anything that could have caused this suddenly. They now suspect it may be neurological, and the MRI alone costs around $3,500, not including other medical expenses already incurred.

Booker is my service dog in training, and he means the world to me. He’s not just a companion… he’s being trained to help me manage my disabilities and has already made a life-changing difference in my daily life. Seeing him go through this has been heartbreaking and even though he may not continue his journey to be a service dog I want to make sure I do everything I can to get him the care he needs to live a long happy life.
