On July 12th of this year, my life changed in an instant. I was hit by a drunk driver, and my vehicle rolled off the highway, over a frontage road, and down a ravine a total of nine times. The drunk driver did not have insurance and is currently awaiting conviction. Miraculously, I survived with a contusion in my leg and a separated AC joint in my shoulder, but the aftermath has been incredibly challenging. Since the accident, I have been in constant pain, going through physical therapy, and dealing with hearing loss. I also need to pay for an MRI and several out-of-pocket doctor visits. Because I was working at the time, I still have to pay for insurance, and my health insurance denied my mental therapy because it was out of network. The financial strain has only increased, and I have had to resign from my job because I am out of FMLA.
