Two of our most dearly loved friends and community members need our help for the healing months ahead.
On Sunday, September 28, 2025 Ally went to the ER with abdominal pain and was diagnosed with colon cancer that had metastasized to her liver. A skilled team of surgeons, oncologists, and internal medicine doctors at Poudre Valley Hospital immediately set to work on a plan for Ally. On Wednesday of that week, she had surgery to remove cancerous masses and affected sections of her colon. As we speak, Ally is recovering from surgery at Poudre Valley Hospital, a giant first stride on the road of her fight against cancer.
Ally has her first appointment on October 13, 2025 with the oncology team who will begin her next stage of healing. After fully recovering from surgery (estimated 5 weeks), Ally will begin what is expected to be four to six months of chemotherapy.
Please do not google Ally's condition! The mental health part of this journey is just as important as the physical one. This case is supremely unique to Ally. She is very young, healthy, tough, magical and has a giant community of support beaming rays of light and love to her at all times. Please consider the energy that we, as her community, put out into the universe.
WHERE WE COME IN:
Those who know Ally and Alysia know how strong and solid their love is and how deep their community of care runs in Fort Collins and beyond.
While it seems at this point insurance will cover medical expenses, Ally and Alysia are self-employed and earn wages through contracted work. This means they don’t have the traditional benefits of a 9-5 job (medical leave, paid time off, sick days, salaried wages). This is where we can help immensely! We are raising funds to support Ally & Alysia in supplementing their basic needs so financial stress doesn’t factor into their journey of healing & caretaking. Their combined monthly expenses are $4,500, so our goal of $16,550 would mean half of their monthly expenses will be covered. (Any additional funds raised will cover wages already lost in the week+ of hospitalization, wages-to-be-lost, or self care going forward.)
These two love the work they do in the community and need community more than ever. They plan to continue working as much as is possible. However, their capacity will be reduced and many uncertainties remain in terms of energy and compromised immunity during treatment. We will help to make sure the basics, like rent and food, are supplemented. This would be an enormous relief to them not only financially, but mentally and emotionally.
Please consider donating the cost of a meal, or several hours of work, and know that any contribution will be lovingly received by Ally and Alysia during a time they need help most.
Share this with anyone you know who loves Ally & Alysia and who is able to help. Ally and Alysia invite all who love them on this journey fueled by positivity, optimism, mutual support, and incredible love.
Together, we can buoy these two beacons of love-in-action to a space of healing and eventually, cancer freedom.
FURTHER SUPPORT:
As we know more about Ally's chemotherapy transfusion schedule, there may be some opportunities to shower them with extra love on those long treatment days. We will update with that information here once we have more answers!
Snail-mail of uplifting words, poems, artwork &/or love letters etc are welcome and can be sent to 616 W. Mulberry St. Fort Collins, CO 80521.
