Help Me Achieve My Dream: Study Abroad in London
Hello everyone,
My name is Allison Calhoun and I am a dedicated stay-at-home mom who has been tirelessly pursuing my higher education while caring for my family. I am reaching out to you today because I need your support to participate in a study abroad program in London this coming May 2025. This experience is not just a dream; it's a crucial step for me to graduate with my BA in International Studies and move forward with my career goals.
Why This Study Abroad Program Matters
As a full-time student and a mother, balancing my responsibilities has been challenging, but I am determined to make it work. This particular study abroad program is perfect for me because it is short-term, lasting only 10 days. The class associated with this program is designed to accommodate parents, allowing me to bring my son to class with me. This means I can focus on my studies without worrying about the additional cost of childcare.
My Goals and Future Plans
Upon graduation in May 2025, I plan to work throughout the summer and then continue my education in the fall by enrolling in a graduate program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). I aim to pursue a career in social work and eventually become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). This has been a lifelong dream of mine, and completing this study abroad program is an essential step in making that dream a reality.
How You Can Help
Participating in this program comes with costs that I cannot cover alone. I am receiving a grant through UNCW, which is projected to be about $300 (USD), but I still need additional support. Below is a breakdown of the expenses:
Program Fees: $3,390 (USD)
Travel Expenses: $1,500 (USD)
Accommodation: Included in program fees
Miscellaneous Expenses (Food, Transportation, etc): $450 (USD)
Every little bit helps, and your support will significantly improve my ability to complete this program and achieve my educational goals. I am grateful for any contribution you can make, no matter how small.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering supporting my journey. Your generosity will not only help me complete my degree but also set me on a path to helping others as a social worker.
With gratitude,
Allison Calhoun
