Support a Scholar's Dream and Escape From Homelessness

Hi!! I'm creating this Go-Fund Me to support a person in my life who would like to remain anonymous for reasons of safety. She's a hard-working student studying English & French at West Chester University and is in need of community support for her detrimental family and financial circumstances. This friend has overcome and will overcome every challenge thrown her way- I see it in her strong will and determination. I believe she deserves all the help we can offer.

My friend recently made the brave choice to remove herself from an abusive family life. She no longer has contact with her parents, and has been supporting herself financially since making this decision last August. For these reasons, she lacks consistent stable housing, and good friends in her life have accommodated her living needs during breaks from school, myself included. She was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and in the fall, she participated in an intensive therapy program to support her mental health needs. That fall semester, she saved money and paid $3000 just to attend university, since her academics are one of the most important values in her life. She's passionate about literature, creative writing, philosophy, and the French language. It's been a dream of hers to study abroad in France, and this summer, she has finally been able to after life has thrown her every possible stone. I'm proud to say my friend is still striving towards her dream, and I want to help support her in this journey.

Currently, my friend is making every effort to obtain housing. Due to the housing crisis on campus, dorms are no longer an option, and she must find an apartment before the fall. She's faced financial difficulties and problems with leasing, as she has no parents to co-sign. Still determined, I know she will find a place to stay and continue her academics, and I hope this fundraiser will also help her with these housing finances as well.
